Coulometric Oxygen Technology
The E-Sensor

There are many processes where even the faintest presence of oxygen can have a disastrous effect on product quality or process yield. For example in semiconductor fabs testing of specialty gases and bulk gases can be an insurance policy on improving yield and minimizing scrap. Many hydrocarbon processes including synthetics production of polyesters, petrochem production, cracking of hydrocarbon feedstocks, chemical inerting of gases for storage, and manufacturing of latex can all be improved through accurate oxygen analysis and control. In glovebox applications oxygen analysis is key to reaching research, process and safety goals.
Delta F has been the technology leader in oxygen analysis for years with our unique non-depleting electrochemical sensor technology. Our coulometric sensors eliminated the need for replacing sensors by not depleting over time. The new E-Sensor is Delta F’s revolutionary non-depleting coulometric technology reinvented. To create significant performance gains, we went back to the beginning, undertaking extensive research and engineering. As a result, we:
- Changed materials of construction for the cathode electrode system
- Developed a new cathode electrode system fabrication process
- Eliminated the carbon anode in favor of a proprietary high purity on-carbon anode
- Eliminated impurities in the raw materials of the electrode systems, processing of the electrodes, and in the electrolyte
- Developed new electrolyte formulations and high purity replenishment solutions

E-Sensor Benefit/Application Matrix

Solid State Coulometric Sensor

As a complement to our E-Sensor and traditional coulometric sensor, Delta F also provides a solid state coulometric sensor with a solid electrolyte. This technology delivers a fast response across a wide measurement range and is especially well-suited for industrial applications:
- Can be mounted in situ and measure a sample gas directly
- Very fast response in O2 concentration
- Quick recovery down to low levels after being exposed to air
- Good low-end sensitivity combined with a wide measurement range
- Consistent accuracy from sub-atmospheric pressure to 100 psi
